Recently I attended the Pikes Peak Poetry Summit. That was great fun and I heard some outstanding poet laureates from this region. One of the fascinating workshops was the Earth Day Workshop with Ali Cavitt that opened my eyes to a new form of poetry called a diamante. So here is my first diamante using the Earth Day prompt.
Space
close, satellite-filled
expanding, embracing, absorbing
anti-stars, communications, signals, machines
cascading, falling, terrifying
rapidly, destroying
continents.
I was also able to read some of my recent poems at the PPSC Student/Faculty/Nearby Universe Spring Reading featuring Poet Laureate Ashley Cornelius. This was another wonderful event to participate in and enjoy the open expressions of so many.
If you are a closet poet like I was for many years, please get out to open mics or workshops or conferences in your area and share your view of the world!
Happy writing!
